Congratulations to Peter Kaiser of Bethel, winner of the 2019 Iditarod Sled Dog Race.

Kaiser is the first musher of Yup’ik descent to win an Iditarod championship. His roots in Bethel, located in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region in Southwest Alaska, span three generations, starting with his great-grandparents. He has run every Iditarod since 2010, placing as high as fifth place three times with five total top ten finishes. He is also a four-time, consecutive Kuskokwim 300 champion.

In 2019 Iditarod celebrates its 47th Anniversary. The Last Great Race On Earth is how the 1049 mile Iditarod sled dog race is known. Stretching from Anchorage to Nome, this race is one of the most grueling events in the world. Following the historic trail that in 1925 was used by dog team to bring 300,000 units of life-saving diphtheria serum to an epidemic in Nome. These medallions are limited edition and come in a variety of metal combinations, a nice addition to your Iditarod collection.

A donation from the sale of each medallion is made to the Iditarod Committee to help support the race.

This multi-struck proof medallion is made of golden bronze, it is about the size of a silver dollar and comes packaged in an airtite container and gift box.
