We mint a selected number of designs into what we call proof-like medallions. They are minted using the same dies, but at a lower pressure, and struck only 1 time on the press (some designs require 4 or 5 strikes to achieve a perfect piece) They are then packaged in a less expensive way. These coins are still very nice, but since we are able to make and package them quickly, this keeps your cost down.
