100th Anniversary of Denali Park Medallion in Golden Bronze
2017 marks the 100th anniversary of Denali National Park, we are using the official celebration logo as the reverse of our coin.
Denali, at an elevation of 20,320 feet/6,164 meters, is the highest point in North America. It is located in Denali National Park, Alaska. The name, Denali, means "The high one." This was the name given to the mountain by the Athabaskan Indians. It was also referred to as "Traleika" a name used by an ancient peoples who once lived in this region. One of the best views of Denali is seen 85 miles into Denali National Park across Wonder Lake. At this point Denali is only 27 miles away. On a clear day it can be seen in both Anchorage and Fairbanks. Some of the best views are seen in the winter. This medallion, about the size of a silver dollar, is struck in golden bronze.
